At Sakyadhita International Conference 2023

CHANGCHUP CHOELING NUNNERY, ZANGLA ZANSKAR AT SAKYADHITA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2023.Sakyadhita International Association of Buddhist Women was founded in 1987. Sakyadhita, means “Daughter of the Buddha.”“The organization aims to unite Buddhist women of various countries and traditions, to promote their welfare, and to facilitate their work for the benefit of humanity. Sakyadhita now has nearly 2,000 members in 45 countries around the world.”The 18th Sakyadhita International Conference, which will be held in Seoul for five days from June 23 to June 27, 2023. This international event, hosted jointly by the Korean Bhiksuni Association and Sakyadhita Korea, will feature various programs such as paper presentations, workshops, exhibitions, meditation, and cultural performances. The theme of this year’s conference is “Living in a Precarious World: Impermanence, Resilience, Awakening.”There is a team of 10 Himalayan nuns attending this conference and representing the best practices of the Himalayan region under the guidance of the Nun Padma Dechen from Thiksey nunnery,Leh.The Buddhist nuns participating in the event are from Leh,Kinnaour,Spiti and Zanskar.Notably ,two nuns Lobzang Angmo and Thinless Yangzom from Changchup Choeling Nunnery,Zangla Zanskar are also part of the team.It is a proud moment for all of us to have the nuns from Zanskar in the event and make us feel proud.Best wishes.
